Let’s Talk About Feelings

Let’s Talk About Feelings

feelings

Prepare yourselves by donning your smocks and eye protection, because I’m about to projectile word vomit all over the place.

Hi, everyone! I have been hiding from the blogosphere for a few weeks now while I get my ish together. I’ve missed you all, but I really needed some time to sort through my feelings.

Yep, my feelings.

While my cruise around the Baltic Sea was absolutely amazing, it made me realize a few things about myself and this blog. I had a lot of time to think about anything and everything I had been pushing to the side, and I came to realize a few things about myself that I had been avoiding.

  1. I’m not cut out for extensive travel.
  2. I want to blog about things other than travel.
  3. I’m insanely fickle.

Okay, that last one was wasn’t a surprising revelation. I’ve been fickle since birth, but it still surprises me when I actually admit it to myself.

I need change and variety in my life. We all do to a certain extent, but I tend to fight it until I make myself so uncomfortable that I want to run screaming from whatever it is that I feel is holding me back. That’s pretty difficult when it’s me that is holding me back. You can’t run away from yourself, but you can confront whatever it is that you are torturing yourself with and force yourself to deal with it.

What have I been torturing myself with this time?

I’ve been forcing myself into a niche. Blah blah blah, it’s just a blog, why are you stressing over this, etc.

But it’s so uncomfortable! I’ve been forcing myself to blog about travel as much as possible. I’ve got tons of material to blog about, so that’s not the problem. …but I haven’t been blogging because I want to branch out and I’m afraid that if I do so I’ll lose some blogger street cred or something ridiculous like that.

Screw it. I’m just going to do what I want.

I purposely avoided using the word “travel” when I chose a name for this blog. The tagline doesn’t mention it either. I guess I was subconsciously preparing for the day I would finally decide to break out of the corner I had painted myself into. Well, that day is here.

Here’s what to expect from me from here on out:

  1. Anything
  2. Everything
  3. Random nonsense
  4. Things that are shiny and sparkly
  5. Travel

I’m keeping travel in there because I love it and also because I love to take pictures of pretty places to plaster all over my blog.

I guess I’m calling myself a lifestyle blogger now….

Weekly Wishes #39

Weekly Wishes #39

The Dude is finally back to feeling like himself again. My big clue was him jumping up into bed this morning and making sure he stepped on my bladder repeatedly. Love that little guy! Last week my goals were to follow up with all of the customers from my first trunk show and to startContinue Reading

The Alhambra of Granada, Spain

The Alhambra of Granada, Spain

Have you ever visited a place that so totally amazed you that you had no words for it. That’s the Alhambra in Granada, Spain for me. Of all of the palaces and historic sites that I visited during my week-long trip to Spain last November, the Alhambra was by far my favorite, but IContinue Reading

Weekly Wishes #38

That lovely bit of deliciousness pictured above is the absolute best tiramisu I’ve ever had in my life. Literally. …and I literally mean that literally. I’d take another Royal Caribbean cruise tomorrow if they promised me they would serve it every night. Thanks to everyone who sent along kind words about Doc yesterday. He’s still lookingContinue Reading

Sick Baby

This has been all I’ve been able to concentrate on since Wednesday evening. He’s been a bit slow since I picked him up from the kennel on Tuesday afternoon. Normally a pretty voracious eater, he’s stopped eating today, and he’s not at all interested in curling up on the couch with me. I’ll be back whenContinue Reading

Weekly Wishes #37

Hey, I made it back from 12 loooong days at sea! I’m not sure yet how I feel about taking another cruise, so I’ll sit on it for a bit and share my thoughts after I’ve had some time to get back into my normal routine. I don’t want to make any decisions based on aContinue Reading

Weekly Wishes #36

I’m STILL on a boat! We’re in Russia today, so I’ve definitely got a full day planned. Still no flippy floppies for me on this cruise around the Baltic Sea, but I’m sure I’ve eaten my weight in fabulous food. Because I’m STILL O-ficially on vacation, I’m not making any wishes this week other than to have aContinue Reading
