Let’s Talk About Feelings

Let’s Talk About Feelings

Prepare yourselves by donning your smocks and eye protection, because I’m about to projectile word vomit all over the place.

Hi, everyone! I have been hiding from the blogosphere for a few weeks now while I get my ish together. I’ve missed you all, but I really needed some time to sort through my feelings.

Yep, my feelings.

While my cruise around the Baltic Sea was absolutely amazing, it made me realize a few things about myself and this blog. I had a lot of time to think about anything and everything I had been pushing to the side, and I came to realize a few things about myself that I had been avoiding.

  1. I’m not cut out for extensive travel.
  2. I want to blog about things other than travel.
  3. I’m insanely fickle.

Okay, that last one was wasn’t a surprising revelation. I’ve been fickle since birth, but it still surprises me when I actually admit it to myself.

I need change and variety in my life. We all do to a certain extent, but I tend to fight it until I make myself so uncomfortable that I want to run screaming from whatever it is that I feel is holding me back. That’s pretty difficult when it’sΒ me that is holding me back. You can’t run away from yourself, but youΒ can confront whatever it is that you are torturing yourself with and force yourself to deal with it.

What have I been torturing myself with this time?

I’ve been forcing myself into a niche. Blah blah blah, it’s just a blog, why are you stressing over this, etc.

But it’s so uncomfortable! I’ve been forcing myself to blog about travel as much as possible. I’ve gotΒ tons of material to blog about, so that’s not the problem. …but I haven’t been blogging because I want to branch out and I’m afraid that if I do so I’ll lose some blogger street cred or something ridiculous like that.

Screw it. I’m just going to do what I want.

I purposely avoided using the word “travel” when I chose a name for this blog. The tagline doesn’t mention it either. I guess I was subconsciously preparing for the day I would finally decide to break out of the corner I had painted myself into. Well, that day is here.

Here’s what to expect from me from here on out:

  1. Anything
  2. Everything
  3. Random nonsense
  4. Things that are shiny and sparkly
  5. Travel

I’m keeping travel in there because I love it and also because I love to take pictures of pretty places to plaster all over my blog.

I guess I’m calling myself a lifestyle blogger now….

I was going to chant ,”One of us, one of us, one of us!”, but then I wasn’t sure if I was lifestyle blogger. Whoops. I’m glad that you’re gonna be around more and heck, yes to doing what you want to do because it’s your blog!

Go for it! I hate the idea of a “niche.” Do what you want with your own space! I think it’s great when travel bloggers branch out and get more personal – too many of them just have tips and photos w/o enough of their own experiences.

I think your tagline is perfect for your new avenue, which has clearly been a long time coming – adventure is more than traveling πŸ™‚ Enjoy your new freedom! πŸ™‚

Good for you! I know myself well enough to know that I will change my mind and direction a million times. I think the tag line is great!

Ha, I love it! I’ve been leaning the same way lately. Honestly, with all the talk about niches, the blogs I actually enjoy READING cover all sorts of topics. After all, I may be a traveler but that’s not my ONLY interest. I’m debating between a tagline of “Adventure is Everywhere” and “Life is a Great Adventure” because it lets me blog about whatever I want. Glad to see we’re on the same page and I look forward to the sparkly things!

Yes! This is exactly how I have been feeling lately and why I’ve chosen a rebrand, because I zoned in on travel too much. I can completely relate and I am looking forward to seeing what else you come up with πŸ™‚
